At some point I said out loud, (view spoiler)[omg it's a circus novel (hide spoiler)] and it is, at least a little bit, for a little while. It also feels sometimes like a (view spoiler)[vampire novel for how some of the men are let in and take control for some time. (hide spoiler)]

It sort of reminded me of One Hundred Years of Solitude. There's a large family, thankfully with different names, with magic. Although TIoOD has a smaller scale.
Magic? Then it’s Fantasy. It sounds like it might be Magical Realism.(Still waiting on my copy from the library.)

The stuff that's usually labeled magical realism seems to me to have the magic stuff being more matter of fact than in this book. Here there's talk of magic having a cost, etc, that smacks more of a magic system like a fantasy novel.
As far as the rest of the genres this might fit in, there are certainly parts that feel more like folktales (Orquidea's childhood). When, near the end (view spoiler) it felt more like a thriller in ways that were discordant with the folktale part.
