Today, we remember our 11 colleagues whose lives were taken on September 11, 2001. The words inscribed below their names on the Eleven Tears Memorial were selected by their families and remain there today. Twenty-five years later, we honor their lives, their contributions, and the lasting impact they had on our American Express Family.

I’m incredibly honored to be named HR Executive's 2026 HR Executive of the Year. Throughout my career spanning over 30 years in Human Resources (HR), I’ve been focused on ensuring business strategy and talent strategy are closely integrated and developing high-performing business and HR teams. It’s humbling to be recognized in this way by respected peers who I hold in such high regard, but for me, it’s never about me. From a very early stage in my career, I learned it’s about earning trust by investing in talent. When you commit to investing in talent, developing teams, and pursuing big ideas that drive long-term value with courage, everyone grows and moves closer to their potential. I always say the proof is in the performance, and leading teams to deliver transformation and personal growth is why I love what I do every day. Speaking of teams, I have many to recognize, as they all make me better as a person and as an HR leader. It’s also what makes me so proud to lead American Express' Colleague Experience Group (CEG). I get to work with an amazing team that cares deeply about our colleagues and is always looking for ways to improve the experience. To my Amex CEG team, thank you for the care you put into the work we do, the way you keep pushing us forward, and everything you do for our #TeamAmex colleagues. I’m grateful to Steve Squeri, my peers on the Executive Committee, and our leaders across American Express for their close partnership and for believing, as I do, that people and culture are fundamental to how we grow and win over the long term. Our belief is simple: the best way to back our customers is to back our colleagues. And to my family, my home team: you’ve been part of every big leap I’ve taken throughout my career, including a few that moved us around the world. We’ve always grown together, and I’m so grateful for all the experiences we've made the most of as a family. 💙 This recognition feels especially meaningful at a moment when our work is changing so quickly. As people and technology continue to evolve how we work, I believe the role we play in helping people grow, adapt, and lead through change has never been more critical or more strategic. Thank you to HR Executive for recognizing me—and to all the colleagues, leaders, sponsors, and teammates I’ve learned from along the way. I’ve always believed we can be better in the next moment than we are right now. We never stop being both students and teachers, and I’m grateful for everyone who has given me the opportunity to be both every day. Congratulations to my fellow honoree, Nirit Peled-Muntz, Chief People Officer at HiBob, for being named HR Executive’s HR Leader of Distinction. https://lnkd.in/g2mSTcX9
