We were proud to join our client, Upson Regional Medical Center, in celebrating the grand opening and ribbon-cutting of the new 27,012-square-foot Blackstock Family Women's Center, a transformative addition that enhances labor, delivery, postpartum, and women's healthcare services for the Thomaston community and surrounding region. The celebration also recognized the project's first phase, the 12,305-square-foot Intensive Care Unit, which was completed earlier and is already serving patients with advanced critical care capabilities. "It has been a true pleasure to work alongside the outstanding team at Upson Regional Medical Center on this campus," said Marty Graves, Project Executive for Batson-Cook Construction. "From the ICU to the Blackstock Family Women's Center, we've had the privilege of helping create spaces that will positively impact patients, families, and caregivers for generations to come. Seeing URMC's vision for the future of healthcare become a reality has been incredibly rewarding for our team." Designed by 2WR + Partners and constructed by Batson-Cook Construction, this multi-phase project represents a significant investment in healthcare close to home. The grand opening program's impressive "By the Numbers" highlights tell the story behind the project, including 92,000 construction man-hours, 54,000 man-hours worked without a lost-time incident, 3,500 cubic yards of concrete, 200 tons of rebar, and 531 tons of structural steel that helped bring this vision to life. Congratulations to URMC, its leadership, staff, donors, and community partners on this milestone achievement. Batson-Cook remembers the nearly 3,000 lives lost 25 years ago, honors the courage of the first responders who answered the call, and reflects on the resilience of our nation that emerged in the face of that tragedy.
