  • The most important part of choosing a .NET vendor is asking the right questions at the right time. Among them is one that tells you early which kind of vendor you're dealing with: someone committed to signing a deal, or someone committed to building a partnership. The question is: who exactly owns the architecture in six months? Why is it such an eye-opening question? Read the article.

  • We assess legacy .NET platforms that have grown beyond anyone's understanding. The ones with years of technical debt, and those you inherit after an acquisition. Here's an example: a client's newly acquired .NET platform. There was no original team, the documentation was outdated, and it was unclear what was going on in production. We spent 30 days mapping the live system before any modernization work began. Read about what we found in the article.

  • Grateful to have been part of it!

The Journey: Part 2 The idea of Scappman was born—awesome, let's do this! But then the "how" hit us. How are we actually going to do this? Is this even a good idea? How do we fund it and how will we eventually make revenue? We basically opened Pandora’s box, and we realized we had a lot of questions without any answers. Wout Vergauwen and I soon realized we couldn't pull this off alone. That’s why we applied for Start it Accelerate | @KBC. Luckily, we got accepted into the ecosystem and were immediately challenged, guided, and mentored (+free office space 😜 ). Having a mentor is gold. Getting a non-biased look from people who have been there before gives you the insights you need to make your own decisions. Shoutout to Johnny G. Mills& Jim Nkolo from Start it Accelerate | @KBC. Also big shoutout to Bruno Segers and Kris Jehaes for all the guidance and support. Before putting all our effort and savings into this, you want to be "sure" it’ll work, right? But how do you show or sell something that isn't built yet? Well, it turns out you can validate an idea very early on by asking the right questions and showing some wireframes. Whatever you do, never ask: "Do you think this is a good idea?" Worst question ever! :-) We used the principle of The Mom Test to make sure we were getting real answers. We started calling some known MVPs (Microsoft influencers) to see how they were doing things today, what frustrated them, and if there was a better way to patch applications. A big thanks to Thijs Lecomte, Michael Van Horenbeeck, Tim Hermie, Tim De Keukelaere, Peter Daalmans [MVP] (and everyone else I might have forgotten) for the insights. After those interviews, we felt the idea was validated. We finally believed in it enough to commit both mentally and financially. Even though we had a technical background, building a software product is a completely different ballgame. We needed developers and IT architects to help us actually build the thing. We reached out to people close to us who knew how to build a backend—huge thanks to Christof Van Geendertaelen for setting up those processes and assistance in desiging the Azure infrastrucure. For the frontend, we reached out to Blackthorn Vision because they had the exact know-how we needed. Big shoutout to Yurii Horak for showing us how to build it right. So, we had the technical part tackled... but that’s just a tiny part of starting a company. Little did we know back then. The next big question was: How are we going to pay for all of this ? We ended up using more than half of our consultancy fees and our personal savings to pay for the initial MVP. We knew this model wouldn't last forever, so the next step was the big one: Looking for actual customers. End of part 2

Just wrapped up a successful business trip with Halyna Melnyk to our client in Exeter, Devon. And honestly, this city knows how to charm you.    By day, we were deep in strategic sessions, brainstorming, aligning on next steps and big plans for 2026… all the usual things that make a partnership stronger.    By night... well, Exeter turned into a cozy little movie set. Quiet streets, glowing lamps, a walking path that absolutely convinced us we were in a Christmas special.    And yes, we still made time for the essentials: a glass of wine by a Christmas tree that looked like it had its own PR agent.    The sweaters? Of course we brought our Ukrainian spirit with us! That’s non-negotiable.    All in all, productive meetings, great energy, and a client team we truly enjoy working with. Exeter, thank you for the warm (and slightly magical) welcome. We'll be back!
