Today, on Guatemala’s Independence Day, we celebrate not only a nation’s freedom but also the spirit of resilience, hope, and possibility that shines through its people. At Common Hope, we see these same values alive in the students and families we walk alongside every day. Independence is not only about history — it’s about building futures. And for Guatemala’s youth, education is the key to achieving it. Across our sites, families, students, and staff came together this week to honor the day with themed parties, traditional music and dance, and the proud display of blue and white flags. These celebrations were more than festive gatherings. They were a reminder of the culture, pride, and unity that inspire our work every day. That’s why our STAND Campaign is so important. Together, we are working toward 50 new student sponsorships, 50 new Pathway Members, and $50,000 to fund education programs.
