Vaikuttamistyön sihteerinä avustat vaikuttamistyössämme ja siihen liittyvässä materiaalituotannossa ja viestinnässä. Työkieliämme ovat suomi ja englantia, mutta emme edellytä täydellistä kielitaitoa. As a member secretary, you will help with member affairs and tasks related to our membership register. As a club secretary, you will help with administrative and event production tasks for the Belingual language clubs. As an advocacy secretary, you will assist in our advocacy work and related material production and communication. Our working languages are Finnish and English, but we do not require perfect language skills. The courage to use the language is enough. Link in comments.

Family engagement is not an add-on, it’s foundational. Last week, Familia had the opportunity to take part in the Your language counts! Closing Conference, where we facilitated a workshop on Family Outreach in Heritage Language Education. Our workshop was interactive and discussion-based, bringing together researchers, and teachers to reflect on how collaboration between families, schools, communities, and institutions can be strengthened in Heritage Language Education. The exchanges were thoughtful, and deeply enriching. One of the highlights of the conference was the World Café, which allowed for meaningful cross-country dialogue and hands-on sharing. We were especially happy to present: ✔️ our Family Outreach Tool for professionals, and ✔️ our newly developed Family Outreach materials for parents and caregivers, created in collaboration with families and now available in several languages. These materials aim to support families in advocating for their children’s right to learn and practice their heritage languages. We hope they will reach families across borders and inspire dialogue and action. The materials will soon be available for download on our website. Heritage Language Education starts with families. Tomorrow, we’ll be part of the Your language counts! closing conference, contributing to discussions on how families, educators, communities, and institutions can work together to strengthen Heritage Language Education across Europe. At Familia, our role in the project has focused on family outreach along with our partner in Greece: ELIX. Together, we have been working with parents and caregivers to raise awareness of linguistic rights, co-create accessible materials, and reflect on how families can be meaningfully engaged in HLE. We’ll be facilitating a workshop on Engaging Families in Heritage Language Education, grounded in the School–Family–Community Partnership framework, and shaped by real experiences from families and educators. Tämä kattaa lähes 7 % kaikista Suomen perheistä, ja määrä on kolminkertaistunut viimeisen kolmen vuosikymmenen aikana. Suomen tasavallan presidentti Alexander Stubb on korostanut, että maahanmuuttajat ovat osa arkeamme ja perheitämme, eivät vain tilastoja tai poliittisen keskustelun kohteita. Hän vastasi 12.11. Itä-Suomen yliopistossa yleisökysymykseen maahanmuutosta sanomalla, että hänelläkin on kotona maahanmuuttaja, viitaten vaimoonsa. Currently, there are over 90,000 intercultural families living in Finland, where one spouse was born in Finland and the other abroad. This covers almost 7% of all Finnish families, and the number has tripled over the past three decades. The President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, has emphasized that immigrants are part of our everyday lives and families, not just statistics or objects of political debate. On November 12, he responded to an audience question about immigration at the University of Eastern Finland by saying that he also has an immigrant at home, referring to his wife. His words remind us that immigration is diverse and personal, and it is not always easy to identify.
