Thank you to U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand for visiting Red Hook and the Miccio Community Center, where we provide programs, activities, and access to technology for local residents. During her visit, she met with our staff and community members, as well as local leaders, including Red Hook East Residents Association President Frances Brown and Deputy Brooklyn Borough President Rev. Kim Council. Earlier this year, Senator Gillibrand helped secure $5 million in federal funding for major renovations at Red Hook East Houses, where the Miccio is located. Leaving this piece of a lasting legacy before we go has been one of the most memorable things I’ve done in my career. Would you believe it took us just a week to start and finish this project!
Every #summercamp participant who picked up a paintbrush at P.S. 246 helped bring this mural to life. "We See What Can Be" is a GSS belief that honors young people and families for who they are today and who they can become tomorrow. 🧡 #WeSeeWhatCanBe #community #youthandfamilywellbeing #education

Earlier this month, Assemblymember Gabriella Romero collaborated with us in hosting a campaign listening session in Albany. Nineteen leaders from nonprofit human services organizations, policy and advocacy groups, and government came together to discuss issues impacting the human services sector—including the need to raise wages for human service workers in Albany and throughout New York State. Michelle Yanche, CEO of Good Shepherd Services, and Melanie Hartzog, President & CEO of The New York Foundling joined the discussion to make the case for why wages must be our priority to recruit and retain the dedicated professionals who provide essential care across New York. Thank you to Assemblymember Gabriella Romero for partnering with us to bring this important conversation to Albany.

SpringBoard is bringing the heat this summer! In June, our Junior Board launched a campaign to raise $5,000, which our Board of Directors pledged to match dollar-for-dollar. SpringBoard surpassed that goal, raising nearly $7,000 from 42 new donors. That unlocked the full match, bringing the total to close to $12,000 in support of our programs. We're so grateful to everyone who helped make it happen. 🧡 SpringBoard is keeping the momentum going, and you're invited to be part of it next Sunday. Join us for two hours of open beer and wine, delicious bites, ping pong, and good company! Click the link to get your tickets.
