On Sept. 21, County Manager Victor Isler welcomed more than 190 attendees to the North Carolina Fire Marshals' Institute being held in Greensboro this week. Fire marshals and fire prevention professionals play a critical role in our communities’ commitment to public safety. Their work may not always happen in the spotlight, but its impact is felt every day. Through inspections, investigations, code enforcement, education, and prevention, they help protect our residents, businesses, and visitors. It takes expertise, professionalism, and a tremendous commitment to public service.

Guilford County’s Community Pet Pantries are officially open! 🐾🐱🐾🐶 Today, we celebrated with a ribbon-cutting for the new pet pantries, which provide free pet food and supplies to residents who may need a little extra help caring for their pets. The project was developed by 17-year-old Evelyn McKnight, a local Girl Scout working toward her Girl Scout Gold Award. Evelyn partnered with Guilford County Animal Services, Social Services, Public Health, local businesses, and community organizations to bring the Community Pet Pantries to life. The community pet pantries are located at: • Guilford County Social Services, 1203 Maple St., Greensboro • Guilford County Public Health, 501 E. Green Drive, High Point Pet owners who need assistance are welcome to visit either location to pick up available pet food and supplies at no cost. Today, we honor and remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, and pay tribute to the courageous first responders who selflessly answered the call that day. On Sept. 3, Commissioner Pat Tillman, on behalf of the Guilford County Board of Commissioners, presented a proclamation recognizing Patriot Day and the National Day of Service and Remembrance. Members of Guilford County Emergency Services and first responders accepted the proclamation. The Board of Commissioners encourages our community to pause in remembrance of those we lost and honor the bravery and sacrifice of first responders, military personnel and volunteers. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones forever affected by the Sept. 11 attacks. As we remember those we lost, we also express our gratitude to the first responders and law enforcement officers who continue to serve and protect our communities every day. #PatriotDay #NeverForget
