As more Americans live longer, staying healthy is only part of the equation for aging well. Many also want to preserve independence, in the homes and communities they know best. Achieving that often starts with having the right healthcare coverage in place.     Nowhere is that more apparent than in Florida, where more than one in five residents are 65 or older. New research commissioned by Humana found that Florida seniors consistently prioritize the same five things in their healthcare coverage: affordability, access, choice, stability, and prevention. That’s a big reason why 97% of current Medicare Advantage enrollees in the state say they plan to stay enrolled.     In a new article, Robert Himmelsbach, Humana’s Florida Medicare President, shares what he’s learned about what it really takes for seniors to stay independent, and the role healthcare coverage plays in making that possible.

Humana Community Day is a powerful reminder of what's possible when purpose, people, and partnerships come together. On August 26, more than 18,000 employees across 28 states and Puerto Rico volunteered alongside nonprofit organizations and community groups to support local needs, share their time and talents, and help create meaningful change in the communities we serve. The impact of Humana Community Day extends beyond a single day of service. It strengthens relationships, supports organizations doing important work year-round and reflects the care our employees bring to the communities where they live and work. We're thankful for our partners, whose work makes a difference every day, and for our employees, who showed up with enthusiasm, compassion and a commitment to service. #HumanaCommunityDay #TeamHumana

September is Intergenerational Month, and we’re celebrating the strength of age diversity and belonging at Humana. As both the workforce and the populations we serve become increasingly multigenerational, creating meaningful connections across age groups is more important than ever. It strengthens how we collaborate, innovate and deliver more informed, empathetic care. Network Resource Groups, including GenUs and Young Professionals, play a key role in bringing this to life. Through shared experiences like book clubs, film discussions and employee-led programming, they create space for learning, perspective-sharing and connections across generations. We are grateful to GenUs for championing age equity and helping build a culture where every generation can thrive. Helping people achieve their best health starts with strong community partnerships. We're proud to celebrate the impact of the Humana Foundation's investment in Canal Pointe and the work of Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana. This partnership is helping women, children and families access the care, support and stability they need to build healthier futures. Thank you to the Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana team for the meaningful difference you're making in the New Orleans community.

Volunteers of America of Southeast Louisiana was honored to welcome Jim Rechtin, CEO of Humana Inc. for a tour of our Canal Pointe residential program ahead of the facility’s one-year anniversary. Canal Pointe is New Orleans’ only family-centered residential treatment and recovery support facility. This facility, which was made possible by a $1 million investment from the Humana Foundation, utilizes VOASELA’s evidence-based opioid and substance use disorder treatment and recovery model for pregnant and parenting women and their children. Since opening in February 2026, Canal Pointe has: - Provided treatment and support for 29 mothers with a 20.9-day average length of stay  - Helped care for 32 children, including an infant born in care  - Received 165 referrals; 60 eligible for admission    We are thrilled to continue this necessary work and we want to thank Humana for their support and dedication to making this happen.

Home care providers face an average annual turnover rate of 77%, creating challenges for both caregivers and older adults who depend on consistent support. Research has shown that robust training programs can dramatically improve workforce retention. To help address shortages and turnover in home-based care, Humana Healthy Horizons in Indiana is collaborating with HealthStream to sponsor 1,000 Home Health Aide certification scholarships. “Expanding access to training is one of the most direct ways we can grow and stabilize the caregiving workforce, particularly in rural and underserved communities,” said Anna Dunn, Medicaid Plan President, Humana Healthy Horizons in Indiana. This effort is part of a broader initiative to improve the workforce, strengthen care continuity and help more Hoosiers access the home-based health services they need. The most important insights often come directly from the people we serve. Through regular conversations with Medicare Advantage members, Humana President and CEO, Jim Rechtin, hears firsthand where healthcare is working and where it can be simpler. As Humana marks its 65th anniversary, he shares his perspective on Medicare Advantage and why making healthcare easier matters more than ever.  Read more below.

For too many Americans, managing their healthcare can feel like a second job. That's why I spend a couple hours every six weeks talking with Medicare Advantage members about their experience navigating our healthcare system. Over time, those conversations have turned into real relationships, with room to talk openly about what’s working and what’s not. More than one member has told me some version of the same thing: "I shouldn't need to become an expert in healthcare to use the healthcare system." As Humana marks 65 years of serving seniors, I've been reflecting on that statement and the question it raises for all of us: Are we making healthcare better, or are we simply asking people to get better at navigating it? In this article, I share why I believe the future of Medicare Advantage depends on our willingness to improve it, simplify it, and make it easier for the people who rely on it every day.
