Workforce Wednesday: Mechanic Opportunities at DOTD 🔧🚜 This week, we are highlighting Mechanic opportunities at DOTD. DOTD's Mechanics play an important role in keeping the equipment that supports Louisiana’s transportation system operating safely and efficiently. These positions perform repairs on a variety of heavy- and light-duty equipment, including construction equipment, passenger vehicles, medium-duty trucks, small-engine equipment, diesel equipment, hydraulic systems, transmissions, electrical systems, and other mobile equipment. For individuals with mechanic experience or training, this can be a great opportunity to use hands-on skills in a public service career that supports work across the state. These positions may be filled as a Mechanic 1, Mechanic 2, or Mechanic 3, depending on the qualifications of the selected applicant. The minimum qualification is one year of experience or training as a mechanic. Current opportunities are located in Lafayette Parish and Rapides Parish. At DOTD, mechanics do more than repair equipment. They help keep crews moving, support emergency response efforts, and make sure the tools and vehicles needed to maintain Louisiana’s roads and infrastructure are ready for the job. A few weeks ago, the Louisiana State Senate confirmed our executive leadership team: DOTD Secretary Glenn Ledet, Jr., Deputy Secretary W. Beau Black, and Commissioner of Multimodal Commerce Andrew Kilshaw. With the confirmation process finished and the legislative session officially concluded, the DOTD team remains focused on overseeing Louisiana's key infrastructure projects, managing our state highway systems, and continuing to implement the essential transportation goals set by the Governor's administration. 📢 New Research: “Expanding Adaptive Traffic Control Signal Systems, A Strategic Study for Louisiana’s Arterial Highways" A new study is underway to evaluate Adaptive Traffic Control Systems (ATCS) in Louisiana and develop a statewide framework for expanding, implementing, maintaining, and evaluating adaptive signal systems. This work will assess existing deployments, corridor performance, and infrastructure needs while addressing communication, detection, and operational constraints across Louisiana corridors. The findings will support a practical ATCS guide for DOTD that includes corridor screening criteria, infrastructure recommendations, and a performance monitoring framework to improve operations statewide under existing resource and maintenance conditions. 🔗: https://lnkd.in/gEpCaV4T
