Our program provides highly specialized maternal-fetal care, fetal intervention services, and delivery management for complex pregnancies. Why are suicide deaths among Black youth rising, and what can we do to change that? In part two of our youth suicide prevention series, J. Ryan Dean, Eugene S. and Constance Kahn Distinguished Professor in Public Health, WashU Bursky School of Public Health, and Mallory Garnett, PhD, Clinical Psychologist, Nemours Children’s Health, examine findings from Pain in the Nation 2026 and explore the complex factors contributing to suicide risk among Black youth. We discuss the importance of understanding the impact of racism, strengthening research and centering the experiences of Black youth in prevention and treatment strategies. Remarkable advances in care, mean more children with congenital heart disease now survive into adulthood. But survival is just the beginning. Dr. Erica Sood continues to advance the work in our Nemours Cardiac Center for Research and Innovation and helping to represent us at CNOC. That's why we're a founding member of the Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Outcome Collaborative (CNOC). Our cardiac neurodevelopment team serves in leadership roles across CNOC's Steering Committee, Standing Committees, and Special Interest Groups working to advance care in this critical area. Sharing knowledge through CNOC pushes the field forward and elevates the careers of those presenting it. We're committed to helping these kids thrive, not just survive.

Today, Nemours has grown into one of the nation's largest integrated pediatric health systems, providing specialty and primary care, prevention, research, and medical education aimed at improving the lives of children and families throughout the Delaware Valley and Florida. Player One, you’re up. And this time, the game can be part of the care.🎮🕹️ For children in the hospital, gaming can be more than entertainment. When used therapeutically, video games can provide opportunities for pediatric patients to socialize, move their bodies, express creativity and practice positive coping skills. Therapeutic gaming can be adapted based on a child’s abilities and what they are experiencing. That might mean a simple game like Connect Four that encourages hand movement, or an interactive game that gets a child standing, moving and exercising. Gaming can also provide a familiar and engaging activity during an experience that may otherwise feel unfamiliar or overwhelming. For pediatric patients, sometimes play is more than play. It can be another tool to help children cope, connect and feel like themselves while they are receiving care.
