About us
Education transforms lives – Open Education solves education challenges. We believe that education should be open and available for everyone everywhere; where Open Pedagogy and Open Practices, lead to Open Licenced Open Education Resources (OER). We’re forging this future together with our members and community. OEGlobal’s primary role is as a connector. We foster knowledge exchange, advance sustainable systemic change and open policies, amplify impact, and connect local open education efforts to global ones. OEGlobal maximizes opportunities for expanding open education by collaborating with partners on priorities that include equitable policies and practices, increasing affordability, equipping learners to be leaders and advocates, supporting communities of practice for educators, fostering collaboration, elevating lifelong learning, and “opening” new learning spaces. To promote empowerment through open education, OEGlobal concentrates on three focus areas: field building • knowledge exchange • value co-creation. OEGloball annually coordinates and hosts Open Education Week (OEWeek), the Open Education Global conference (OEGlobal), and Open Education Awards for Excellence (OEAwards). It also facilitates regional hubs such as CCCOER, OELatam and OEGlobal Francophone. The global community discuss challenges and ideas on OEGlobal Connect, and their work is made visible through OEGlobal Voices and OEGlobal Live! Collectively, these efforts bring high-quality, inclusive education to all learners around the world. https://linktr.ee/oeglobal #openeducation #oer #globalcommunity #chooseopen

That's a wrap on Open Education Week 2026 — and what a global moment it was. 273 events. 146 organizers (including 86 OEGlobal Members). 24 campaigns. 134 freely licensed assets were added to the open commons. 11 OEWeek Ambassadors contributing 34 Sharebacks across the network. The numbers matter — but the real stories lie in the people behind each event, each interaction, each shared OER. Educators who turned a classroom into a workshop. Librarians who curated resources late into the night. Students who created their first OER. Members who hosted hybrid sessions across continents and time zones. Thank you to everyone who showed up — whether you ran a campus-wide event, shared a single asset, joined a discussion, read an article, or joined an event. We've collected the highlights, the numbers, and the moments worth reliving in our closing blog post — including a spotlight on the first cohort of OEWeek Ambassadors who helped extend the week's reach far beyond what any single channel could achieve. Tag someone whose contribution to open education inspired you this year — let's keep the gratitude flowing. #OpenEducation #OEWeek26 #OER #OEWeekAmbassadors #OpenAccess #HigherEducation
