Product design at Paystack starts with understanding the businesses and people we serve, and turning that understanding into thoughtful experiences that work across different markets. In this video, four members of our Product Design team share how they approach problems, learn from merchants and users, collaborate with teams across Paystack, and support each other as they build 💙

Paystack, in partnership with Google for Developers, is inviting startups and small businesses that use Paystack to submit one specific, recurring operational problem to the Paystack AI Builder Challenge. Selected problems will be assigned to teams of up to three builders. Over two weeks, the builders will develop and test AI solutions, while participating businesses provide context, feedback, and access to test what’s being built. There’s no cost to participate. We’re looking for problems that are specific, repetitive, and take meaningful time or effort to manage. The more clearly you can describe the problem and how your team handles it today, the easier it will be for builders to understand what they’re solving. Submissions close on September 24. Paystack, in partnership with Google for Developers, is launching the AI Builder Challenge, a two-week hackathon for people who want to build useful AI products for businesses. Builders can bring their own AI ideas or choose to solve real operational problems submitted by Paystack businesses. Selected participants will get access to Paystack APIs, partner tools, credits, mentors, and office hours to help them develop and test working solutions before Demo Day. The challenge is open to engineers, technical builders, founders, product teams, and startups. You can apply alone or as a team of up to three people. Participation is free. The challenge runs from October 10 to 24 in a hybrid format, with scheduled in-person sessions in Lagos, Nigeria. Applications close on September 24. Last week, we hosted the second session of our four-week SMB Launchpad Clinic, where selected Paystack merchants are learning practical ways to run and grow their businesses. The session focused on managing business finances, from understanding the numbers behind a business to keeping accurate records and meeting tax obligations. Luther Lawoyin, Co-founder of Pricepally, shared lessons from his experience building a business. He spoke about separating personal and business finances, understanding your numbers instead of leaving that responsibility entirely to an accountant, and keeping records that clearly show how the business is doing. Nana Abu, Senior Manager at KPMG, covered the tax and compliance session, including what qualifies as a small business, which taxes businesses are required to pay and file, the exemptions available to them, and how to keep their accounts audit-ready. It was a useful reminder that good financial management starts with understanding your numbers and keeping records you can rely on. Thanks to Luther, Nana, and every merchant who joined us. We’re hiring a Senior Brand Designer to join the Design Studio at Paystack ✨ We’re looking for someone who can find a compelling visual idea in a brief, set the creative direction, and bring it to life themselves. Art direction and hands-on craft are equally important here. You should be confident shaping how a campaign looks and feels, designing its key visuals, and making motion pieces that carry the idea further. The work is varied: product launches, storytelling campaigns, web and social content, events, presentations, and merch. You’ll take ownership from early concept through finished execution, working closely with designers, storytellers, and partners across Paystack. A few things we’d love to see in your work: • Strong conceptual thinking, with a clear connection between the idea, the audience, and the message. • A sharp eye for typography, composition, image-making, and the details that make work feel finished. • Strength in both brand and motion design, with a portfolio that makes your personal contribution clear. • The ability to explain your creative choices, give thoughtful feedback, and help other people make their work better. You’ll be joining a team with strong illustration and motion capabilities, with room to shape the creative direction of some of Paystack’s biggest brand moments. We’re hiring a Senior Web Designer to join the Design Studio at Paystack. This isn’t quite a traditional Product Designer role, and it isn’t a traditional Frontend Engineer role either. We’re looking for someone who sits comfortably between design and the web: a strong visual designer who thinks of the web as a creative medium and can bring their own ideas to life. If you can design a beautiful, thoughtful website in Figma and then build it using HTML, CSS, React, and modern frontend tools, we’d love to hear from you. You’ll help shape Paystack’s public web presence, from paystack.com to product pages, campaign sites, experiments, and immersive web experiences across Paystack and the wider Stack Group.
