🧺 Welcome to your new, safe home 🏡 Our partners at Bradley Angle know how hard it is to get free from domestic violence. The emotional, financial, and social elements all combine to make leaving extremely difficult and dangerous. Survivors of domestic violence often escape with little more than the clothes they’re wearing — so when Bradley Angle helps them get to a place that's safe and secure, they can feel like they're starting from scratch. This week, Rivermark's women's ERG, EmpowHER, helped give survivors a boost by packing and donating Welcome Home baskets. Each basket included cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, towels, personal care items, and other household necessities. EmpowHER members also dropped in a few chocolates and a note of encouragement. The baskets will be given directly to domestic violence survivors when they move into safe housing, ensuring that, at least at the beginning, they have one less thing to worry about. Bryan is a longtime veteran in the Human Resources field, but he'd never worked for a credit union before joining Rivermark's People + Culture team. Did he make the right move? Absolutely! "It has been an exciting and rewarding 10 years working for Rivermark," he says, citing his colleagues and the work that Rivermark does as the reasons that have kept him with us for a decade this month. Like a true HR professional, Bryan knows that the best organizations start with good people — and work to make those people feel supported and motivated. But that's easy to do, he says, when those individuals are bringing so much of themselves to work every day. "My co-workers are some of the most passionate, kind, and caring people I have ever worked with in my Human Resources career," he explains. And just like the folks he works with across departments "strive to support and shape the lives of our Rivermark members for the better," he says his goal "is to provide great customer service to my Rivermark employees so they can provide the best customer service to our members. You can speak face-to-face with a banking expert for more detailed and personalized support. When Tonya first started at Rivermark, she dove right in with both feet. "One memory that stands out from the beginning of my Rivermark journey happened just one month after I was hired," she explains. "I had recently completed membership training and was scheduled for my first shadow day. As luck would have it, that day was "Bank Transfer Day," an event encouraging consumers to move their money from large banks to credit unions." Instead of observing, she got to work on behalf of our members. "I was quickly thrown into action as membership lines stretched out the door." That month, she opened more than 80 memberships on her own — and she's never looked back! In her 15 years with Rivermark, Tonya has helped countless members. And, as a float, you might see her in any branch on any given day! Her flexibility, willingness to work in new situations, and always try to find the right solution for every problem has helped her become a true pillar of our retail team and the broader community. Which, she says, is what it's all about. "What I enjoy most about working for Rivermark, aside from our incredible members and employees, is the opportunity to make a positive impact in the community," she explains, citing her work on initiatives and events that support organizations such as the Oregon Food Bank, the KGW Great Food Drive, Sunshine Division, and Bite of Reality. "Working alongside community partners and fellow credit unions to support meaningful causes is one of the most rewarding aspects of my career," she says proudly.
