Europe’s semiconductor future depends on more than capacity. It also depends on speed and skills. At the ISIG European executive summit, Thomas Morgenstern shared how ST is working to strengthen semiconductor infrastructure in Europe through AI-enabled automation for manufacturing, faster and more efficient technology R&D, and upskilling. For ST, the goal is clear: accelerate time to market, support resilient value chains, and help keep both mature and differentiating technologies central to Europe’s strategic industries. A few highlights from the roadmap: • Next-generation advanced packaging capabilities in Europe with a pilot line in Tours and continued investment in Malta • Pioneering a new R&D model by validating products virtually before the first wafer is even started with a new R&D Digital Twin Centre in Castelletto near Milan, Italy • Pilot programs with robots including humanoids taking on specific physically difficult or repetitive tasks in our fabs. • Upskilling and reskilling our teams, including on AI, to grow with this transformation. None of this happens in isolation. It is enabled by close partnerships across the ecosystem including employees, customers, suppliers, and partners that support the full value chain. With the right combination of technology, automation, and talent, Europe's semiconductor industry can further strengthen its competitive edge. #STMicroelectronics #Semiconductors

Much of the discussion around AI focuses on compute performance. But as AI factories continue to grow, moving data efficiently is becoming just as critical as processing it. The industry is reaching a point where traditional electrical interconnects can no longer deliver the bandwidth, reach and energy efficiency required by next-generation AI systems. This is driving the transition toward optical connectivity, from today's pluggable optics to future Near-Packaged Optics (NPO) and Co-Packaged Optics (CPO). At ST, we are contributing to this transition through the combination of silicon photonics, BiCMOS technologies, STM32 microcontrollers and advanced integration capabilities. Together with customers, partners and research organizations, we are helping build more scalable and energy-efficient AI infrastructure. Looking forward to engaging with the optical communications ecosystem at #ECOC2026 👇🎞️Sylvie Gellida ECOC 2026 | 52nd European Conference on Optical Communication

AI is reshaping #datacenter architecture at an unprecedented pace. As AI workloads scale, the industry faces two major transitions: the move toward higher-density power architectures and the adoption of optical connectivity to support ever-increasing bandwidth requirements. At ST, we are helping customers address both challenges through a broad portfolio spanning power electronics, silicon photonics, BiCMOS technologies, microcontrollers, memory and connectivity solutions. From energy-efficient power delivery to optical interconnects, these technologies are becoming essential building blocks for next-gen AI infrastructure. 📍#ECOC2026 kicked off yesterday in Málaga, and we look forward to discussing how innovation, industrial scale and ecosystem collaboration can help accelerate the deployment of more powerful and efficient AI factories. 👇🎞️vincent fraisse ECOC 2026 | 52nd European Conference on Optical Communication #CloudAI #AIInfrastructure #SiliconPhotonics #OpticalNetworking

We’re creating a new R&D Digital Twin Center in Castelletto, Lombardy (Italy). This new hub will help us accelerate innovation by connecting modeling, emulation, simulation, product design, testing, and predictive reliability in one digital ecosystem. It’s a major step forward in how we develop technologies, products, and system solutions. By simulating real-world physics and complex operational scenarios, our engineering teams can innovate faster reducing the need for expensive, time-consuming physical experiments. Built on strong collaboration with universities, partners, and suppliers, the center aims to strengthen advanced research and development activities and accelerate innovation across the company. Can machines warn us before failure occurs? 🏭 The answer is yes, if we know how to listen. In #industrial environments, machines communicate through motion, heat, noise, pressure, and vibration. For a long time, interpreting those signals required deep specialist expertise. Today, sensing and #edgeAI are making that understanding more accessible. One of the clearest signals is vibration. When measured with enough precision, it can reveal early changes inside a machine, often before failure becomes visible. Take a deeper look with Lisa Trollo in All About Circuits and discover how, with the IIS3DWB10IS smart vibration sensor, we help industries listen to their machines more clearly. 🔍http://spkl.io/60417rjFL #SmartVibrationSensing #IntelligentSensors #SmartManufacturing #MEMS #MEMSSensors

Quantum computing will require more than breakthrough science. It will require a scalable manufacturing path. We are proud to support Quobly in reaching a major milestone: demonstrating the three fundamental quantum computing operations, readout, single-qubit gates, and two-qubit gates, on a single industrial silicon chip manufactured using FD-SOI technology in our 300 mm Crolles semiconductor production environment. This achievement highlights the potential of leveraging advanced semiconductor manufacturing to help move quantum computing from research laboratories toward scalable, commercially viable systems. By combining quantum #innovation with industrial semiconductor expertise, we are helping build the foundations for the next generation of computing. Congratulations to the teams at Quobly and #STMicroelectronics who contributed to this important milestone. #QuantumComputing #Semiconductors #FDSOI #DeepTech
One chip. Three essential quantum operations. Made on a 300 mm industrial process. Today, Quobly is announcing new results on its QSOI® silicon spin qubit technology: qubit readout, one- and two-qubit gates, all demonstrated on a single chip manufactured at STMicroelectronics’ facilities in Crolles (Grenoble - France). ✅ This is a concrete validation of our approach: bringing quantum technology into an industrial semiconductor manufacturing environment, and moving from wafer to quantum computer. ✅ These results also mark a step forward in the transition from our QSOI® technology to our product roadmap. Alloy Pioneer, our first quantum computer, is planned for cloud access by the end of 2026. 🙏 A major milestone made possible by the dedication of the Quobly teams and the close collaboration with our partner STMicroelectronics.
