Manage who can see your email address on LinkedIn

Last updated: 1 week ago
By default, the primary email address you've registered with LinkedIn is only visible to your direct connections on LinkedIn. If the direct connection connects their LinkedIn account with approved apps and services, like Outlook, they will be able to view your email address in those services by default. Your primary email address will also be visible to people who are your email contacts or vice versa.
You can change who can see your email address from your Settings & Privacy page.

To change who can see your email address on your profile:

  1. Click the Me icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage.
  2. Select Settings & Privacy from the dropdown.
  3. Click Visibility on the left rail.
  4. Under the Visibility of your profile & network section, click Email visibility.

  5. Select from one of the following options:

    • Only visible to me – No one can see your email address.
    • 1st-degree connections – Only those directly connected to you can see your email address.
    • 1st and 2nd-degree connections – Only those directly connected to you and those connected to your connections can see your email address.
    • Anyone on LinkedIn – Any LinkedIn member viewing your profile can see your email address.
  6. Change the toggle to Yes to allow your connections to download your primary email address in your connections’ data exports. Change the toggle to No if you don’t want your primary email address to be included.
  7. Your changes will be automatically saved.
We will not share your email address with another member unless both of you choose to contact one another or your above settings indicate you are open to others seeing your email address.
Note: To avoid unwanted invitations or emails and to comply with LinkedIn User Agreement, email addresses should not be entered anywhere else on your profile.
