Who We Are Looking For

Behavioral Health and Crisis Services is currently recruiting for a dedicated, self motivated clinician to work on the Jail Addiction Services team, located at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. Ideal candidate will have a history of working as a clinician within the criminal justice/substance use disorder programs. They will have superior assessment and treatment planning skills as well as bring enthusiasm and compassion to working with this specific client population.

What You'll Be Doing

Duties For This Position

  • Provides a variety of direct clinical services (crisis intervention, assessment, diagnostic evaluation, treatment planning/referral, substance abuse treatment and general therapeutic services, such as individual and group therapy in a jail-based setting.
  • Provides bilingual services to the Spanish speaking inmates participating in treatment
  • Collects data and maintains necessary clinical records documenting client progress for review with supervisory staff and other therapists; prepares appropriate reports.
  • Collaborates with mental health, medical professionals, and correctional employees to establish diagnosis, develop and implement client treatment and service planning.
  • Preferred Multilingual in Spanish Advanced

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in clinical or counseling psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, nursing, or a related behavioral science field.

Experience: Two (2) years of professional experience rendering therapeutic counseling, social work, nursing or psychology services, as pertinent to one’s professional licensing.

Equivalency: None.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT: One of the following licenses, issued by the State of Maryland, must be held prior to appointment of, and maintained by, the employee: (Note: There will be no substitutions for this requirement.)

  • Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC);
  • Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapy (LCMFT);
  • Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC);
  • Licensed Certified Social Worker/Clinical (LCSW-C);
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in the United States, certified as Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland; or
  • Licensed Psychologist

LICENSE: Possession and maintenance of a valid Class C (or equivalent) driver’s license from the applicant’s state of residence when required for job-related duties.

Preferred Criteria, Interview Preferences

  • Candidates with a minimum of two years’ experience in a criminal justice or jail-based setting are preferred.
  • Candidates with at least two years of experience working with individuals with serious and persistent substance use disorders and mental illness are preferred.
  • Candidates with prior clinical experience using the DSM-5 and ASAM Criteria are preferred.
  • Candidates who are multilingual, with advanced proficiency in Spanish, are preferred.

Leave Benefits

Our generous leave package starts with non-MLS permanent and term employees earning 15 days of sick leave and 15 days of annual leave in their first year, as well as up to three additional personal days each calendar year. Positions in MLS earn 35 days of paid time off each year. In addition, we offer all employees 10 paid holidays. Retirement Benefits
