The Senior Vice President (SVP), Chief Innovation Officer (CIO) is a key executive leader at the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), responsible for advancing enterprise innovation and building high-impact partnerships with private sector and industry leaders. Community Health Centers (CHCs) are the most innovative part of the health system and this role will drive NACHC’s strategy to better understand, address, scale, and expand its influence and effectiveness as partners of choice with key stakeholders, especially payors (e.g., chronic disease prevention, reduction of unnecessary administrative burden, improved quality measurement, value-based care, and modernizing risk adjustment and quality measurement) and producers (e.g., life science companies, electronic medical record companies, digital health solutions, and emerging technologies).
The SVP, CIO will lead efforts to design, operationalize, and scale strategic partnerships with payors and producers to advance and accelerate innovation that benefits CHCs, their workforce, and the patients they serve. This leader will play a central role in shifting NACHC from relationship-building to execution and scalable partnership models that drive measurable impact and sustainable revenue.
Description Of Primary Responsibilities And Duties
Innovation Strategy & Leadership
Develop and execute an enterprisewide innovation strategy aligned with NACHC’s mission and longterm growth goals
Identify and advance opportunities for innovation with payors and producers, especially in improving care delivery and technology innovation
Serve as a thought leader on health system innovation, representing NACHC nationally
Support the design and delivery of an enterprisewide leadership development strategy for Clinical Center and IT leaders (e.g., Chief Medical/Health Officers, Chief Nursing Officers, Chief Dental Officers, Chief Behavioral Health Officers, Chief Pharmacy Officers, Chief Information/Technology/AI Officers) to build executive capability, foster innovation, and support highperforming, futureready clinical and IT leadership
Private Sector & Industry Partnerships
Build and lead a robust portfolio of strategic partnerships with key parts of the health system, especially with: o Payors (with a focus on valuebased care models and innovation)
Producers (with a focus on technology, digital health, pharmaceutical, and medical device companies)
Lead negotiations and structure agreements that create mutual value and measurable outcomes
Design and deliver partnership frameworks that move beyond relationshipbuilding to execution, implementation, and scale
Value-Based Care (VBC) Advancement
Partner with payors and health systems to expand VBC models that support community health centers
Identify opportunities to align financial incentives, improve outcomes, and enhance care delivery through innovative payment and care models
Position NACHC as a national leader and convener in VBC strategy and implementation
Innovation Execution & Commercialization
Translate innovative concepts into actionable programs, pilots, and scalable solutions
Oversee the development of new services, or initiatives that generate revenue and increase impact
Drive crossfunctional execution by partnering with NACHC Centers, serving as a Director of the Center for Innovation to advance strategic initiatives
Revenue Generation & Growth
Develop and implement strategies to generate sustainable revenue through partnerships, sponsorships, and innovationdriven initiatives
Build business models that align mission impact with financial sustainability
Contribute to NACHC’s goal of significant revenue growth and longterm financial scale
Cross-Functional & Executive Leadership
Collaborate closely with the President & CEO, Office of the President, and Executive Leadership Team to align innovation with organizational priorities
Influence and guide internal stakeholders to adopt and execute innovative approaches
Build and lead a highperforming team to support innovation and partnership efforts
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MPA, MPH, or related field) preferred
Medical degree (MD, DO) or other advanced clinical degree preferred
15+ years of progressive leadership experience in strategy, transformation, business development, or related areas
Demonstrated success driving revenue growth, diversification, and largescale organizational initiatives
Experience working in healthcare, associations, nonprofits, or missiondriven organizations strongly preferred
Deep understanding of healthcare landscape, including valuebased care and publicprivate partnerships
Proven ability to influence executive stakeholders and lead through complexity and change
