HINDUSTAN ZINC SIGNS MOU WITH ADVANTEK ASSOCIATES & AERO EAGLE AUTOMOBILES Hindustan Zinc Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with #AdvantekAssociates LLP and Aeroeagle Automobiles Pvt Ltd. to explore the adoption of #greenhydrogen and alternative #cleanenergy solutions across its operations. The collaboration aims to evaluate innovative technologies that can support the transition towards low-carbon and future-ready mining. We recently deployed our first #EV loader at one of our mining sites This may look like a small operational update, but to me, this feels like a milestone. Let me explain why Fuel is not a minor line item in mining India’s mining and construction sector consumes an estimated 8–10 billion litres of diesel every year. In open-cast mining alone, High-Speed Diesel (HSD) can account for nearly 30–40% of operating costs. But the cost isn’t only financial; every liter of diesel burned emits roughly 2.68 kg of CO₂. This translates to around 1.78 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions every single month. At some point, you stop looking at these numbers as mere statistics and start asking - Can mining be done more efficiently without carrying the same environmental cost? That question led us here Our first EV loader is now operational and even at this early stage, the advantages are visible - → Zero exhaust emissions at the point of operation → Lower noise levels for operators working long hours in demanding environments → Reduced dependence on diesel price fluctuations → Lower energy cost per unit of work over time Yes, the upfront capital of fleet electrification is higher, but government PSUs are now actively encouraging EV equipment adoption in mining by offering electricity free of cost for operations transitioning to electric equipment. That is not just an incentive; it is a window of opportunity A chance for companies to build capability, test economics, and adapt before electrification becomes an industry expectation rather than a choice. So, We are beginning with one machine And our goal is to progressively electrify our entire fleet in a practical and commercially sustainable way. Because I believe mining will eventually be judged not only by output but also by how responsibly that output is achieved.
