We’re teaming up with AEG Germany at Berlin’s Uber Arena and Uber Eats Music Hall, starting this October. Music, basketball, ice hockey—and now, a bit of Firefox. Plus, with Firefox on your phone, you can skip the main queue at Uber Arena through the Firefox Fast Lane. Most browsers want more of your time online. We want you at the show, faster. See you there, Berlin. https://lnkd.in/eDekGAQA

You picked a browser. You chose Firefox. Windows should take a hint. Independent research by Harry Brignull and Cennydd Bowles documented the ways Microsoft steers people toward Edge, even after they’ve chosen another browser. Some barriers to browser choice have been removed in Europe, but others remain and people in other markets continue to encounter the full range of Microsoft's harmful design practices. When you choose Firefox, your choice deserves to stick. More than 100 days after the report, we’re still asking Microsoft to respect people’s choices online. The screenshots speak for themselves; read more about the research and our conversation with Microsoft in the comments.

Hey NYC! 👋 We’re hosting a Firefox community meetup at Mozilla’s New York office on October 13, from 6–8:30 pm. Eduardo Feo and I will share what’s new in Firefox Mobile and what’s coming next. We’ll also do some hands-on usability testing. Come hang out, meet the community, and help shape Firefox Mobile. Join us: https://luma.com/le5a9b0d

I joined Firefox for a pretty simple reason: I believe the open internet is one of the most important and unique things we have. It's special. It's where anyone can learn, build, and create without asking for permission. It’s massively distributed and not controlled by anyone. And Firefox is one of the few things actively protecting that. We’re singularly focused on building the best browser. We're building for people with values based upon freedom and access. That means building in the open, listening to feedback, strong privacy protections and giving people choice -- including the choice to turn off the things they don't want. It also means creating more choice and competition as we launch new AI innovations and agents to ensure the internet doesn’t have gatekeepers. Things I -- and our users -- fell in love with years ago are still here. I’m really optimistic and we’ve made a lot of progress in the last year with great new features and improvements to provide users a best in class browser without compromises. Today we're rolling out the new Firefox design to match. I'm especially proud of what Ashley Thomas and Raja J and the broader team have built, alongside our community, to get us here. What’s even more exciting is there’s more to come. If you haven't used Firefox in awhile, now’s the moment. If you're already using Firefox, thank you for coming with us on this journey. Happy browsing. Link to our blog post in the comments. https://lnkd.in/dqpRHVAw

What you shop for, read, and search for is your business. Firefox is private by default, so trackers don't get to follow you around the web. Nothing to configure, nothing to trade away, just browsing that stays yours. And what little we do know about you, we never sell. Want to know more? Visit firefox.com/user-privacy

Today, we are announcing our partnership with Mozilla to bring privacy, control and choice to AI-powered web browsing. This represents two open source advocates working together to bring Mistral’s scientific innovations to Mozilla’s users around the world. 🌍 Together, we are building AI systems that are trained and fine-tuned on regional languages, dialects and cultural context, so anyone can get responses that understand their local nuance. Some partnerships can break assumptions. Today Mozilla and Mistral announced an exciting partnership built around the simple bet that great AI models should be able to work across products, and great products should be able to work with different models. This is how the internet should be trending. Firefox doesn’t need to build AI models. Mistral doesn’t need to own the browser. Instead, we can work together to build something useful and give people real choice. Big AI doesn’t need to dictate all our choices when open-source, independent, responsible AI and browser companies collaborate to compete and win. The browser is becoming one of the most important AI distribution points. I’d rather build choice into the Firefox user experience now and set the bar for what’s possible rather than wait for it to be mandated. It’s a good day to be building Firefox. It’s a good day for the open web. I’ll let The Wall Street Journal tell the rest of the story. Link below.

At Firefox we think a lot about how to give people more control over their experience online while still preserving everything that makes the open web valuable. We’ve heard from so many of you about ads, pop-ups and overlays that interrupt what you’retrying to do, especially on mobile. With Ad Blocker for Firefox on iOS, you now have a way to reduce those distractions and browse your way. Everyday I ask myself, “Are we listening to what people want? Are we making sure people have more choice and control online?” Thanks to Anthony Keane Andres Furlan for leading the product work to bring this to Firefox on iOS. Almost every tool I use added AI this year. I don’t remember being asked as those features appeared. I think about that a lot as we bring AI into Firefox. We’ve said features are optional, but that isn’t the same as giving people greater control over the technology they’re using. AI is here, and it’s useful. It can also be annoying and unwanted. The important thing is that you should get to make the decision about using it. I wrote about what happened when we gave Firefox users more control over AI in the browser with the ‘kill switch’, what surprised me about how people reacted, and what we’re learning as we evolve the browser.
