Prahalada's Divine Protection Idol

This document describes an idol from a private collection that depicts the story of Prahalada from Hindu scripture. The idol shows the moment when guards threw Prahalada from a height but the Earth Goddess rose up and caught him gently to prevent harm. The same story is also described in a Kannada language poem on the owner's blog.

Bhu Prahalada Vigraham

22 July 2012: The English version of Narasimha Priya from Ahobila Math says of Prahalada: "The guards fell upon the boy and threw him down to the floor below...The Earth Goddess who holds up all creation rose and received the boy devotee carefully so that no harm befell him."
