Elongated Seed Stitch Odd # of Stitches Row 1 (RS) With MC, *k1, p1; repeat from*, end k1. Row 2 With MC, purl. Row 3 With CC, *p1, k1; repeat from*, end p1. Row 4 With CC, purl. Repeat rows 14 for Elongated Seed St. Coaster With MC, cast on 17 sts. Work in Elongated Seed St as follows: work rows 24 once, then rep rows 14 five times, work row 1 once more. Bind off with MC. Edging With RS facing, crochet hook, and MC, work hdc join into 2nd bound-off st. Work 14 more hdc to corner, work 4 hdc in corner. *Work 15 hdc to next corner, work 4 hdc in corner; rep from* 2 times more. Slip st into top of first hdc to join round. Cut MC. With CC, work 1 round hdc, working 1 hdc in each st and 4 hdc in each corner, join round. Fasten off. Block to square.

1 Yarn over, insert hook into next stitch to the left (as shown). Catch yarn and pull through stitch only; 3 loops on hook.

3.75-5mm/US 5-8, or size to obtain gauge

2 Catch yarn and pull through all 3 loops on hook: 1 half double crochet complete. Repeat Steps 12.

slip stitch crochet (sl st)

1 Insert the hook into a stitch, catch yarn, and pull up a loop.

2 Insert hook into the next stitch to the left, catch yarn and pull through both the stitch and the loop on the hook; 1 loop on the hook. Repeat Step 2.

hDC join

Insert hook into a stitch, *catch yarn, and pull up a loop, rep from * 2 times (chain 2, counts as first half double crochet).
