STAAD.Pro 2005 Portal Frame Example

This document provides an example problem of modeling and analyzing a portal frame structure in STAAD.Pro to support a sinking foundation. The 6m x 6m frame consists of five members connected by four joints. Material and cross-sectional properties are assigned to the members. A fixed support is applied to joint 1 at elevation 6m. A sinking load of -1cm is applied to the fixed support at joint 4 to simulate settlement. The model is then analyzed to obtain the structural response due to the sinking foundation.
