10.1 Open-Loop Ramp Response Plotting in Section 6.3

When valves V1 and V2 are closed, the system acts as an integrator causing the level h1 to ramp up while h2 remains steady. When pump P1 is closed, h1 returns to steady state by removing the integrator effect. When the reference value increases, the PID controller tracks the increase and brings both h2 and h2 back to steady state. When a disturbance is added after the reference response, the PID controller rejects the change and quickly returns the system to steady state.

Open-loop Ramp Response Plotting in Section 6.3

From the result of obtaining the ramp response, the plot shows:

The oscilloscope shows that when the valve V1 and V2 are closed, it results act as an integrator which causes a ramp effect on h1 while h2 remain at steady state. When the pump P1 closed, the integrator effect is removed. Hence h1 back to steady state.

Closed-loop Response to a Step-Reference Plotting in Section 9.3

From the result of increase the reference value, we obtain the plot as below:

The oscilloscope show the effect of what PID controller can bring to the system. At the start of the plot, 1 when the reference value is increase the 0 also increase. After increase for a period, PID controller effectively tracks down the reference increase and led both reference, h2 and

back to steady state.

Closed-loop Response to a Step-Disturbance Plotting in Section 9.4

In this section, we input a value to act as disturbance response and we get the plot as below:

After the reference response input, we input a disturbance response into the system and we can see a step increase in the volts but PID controller manage to reject the change in the volts and swiftly bring it back to steady state.
