Executive Government
The Executive gorvernment of Singapore is made up of the President, Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Ministers, Cabinet, and the government organizations. Each of these sections work together to create a better place for the citizens to live. The Executive Government of Singapore is in charge of executing the law.
The President
The government of Singapore includes the President, Tony Tan Keng Yam. The President of Singapore is the Head of State for Singapore. In Singapore the President has certain powers over the rest of the government. The president is able to appoint key offices and he can also have control over the expenditures of government finances. In order to be the president of Singapore a person must be of 45 years of age or older, be a citizen of Singapore, must have good character, and a couple other things. There are also things that a person cannot have a history of doing. This can include things like being convicted of
an offense in the court of law in Singapore or Malaysia and even being a citizen of another country will get someone disqualified from the election.
Parliament
Parliament is a large part of the government of Singapore. Parliament works along with the
president to create the legislature for this country. Parliament is a unicameral form of government and currently has a woman as the Speaker of Parliament named Halimah Yakob. Parliament also has many other officials that are important to all of the citizens of Singapore.
