I-35E Federal Transit Administration: Citation Needed

The DCTA Board of Directors approved constructing a rail alignment along an existing railroad corridor east of I-35E in May 2005. They worked closely with the FTA to obtain regulatory approval, and in March 2008 the Board approved the environmental impact study, allowing funding in August 2008 though no federal funds were used for construction. Testing of the rail line between Carrollton and Lewisville Lake began in April 2011 with further tests projected for later that month, though these were delayed until mid-May. The A-Train line officially opened on June 20, 2011 with celebrations at five stations.
