Azam Football Club is a Tanzanian football club that plays in the Tanzanian Premier League. In its first season in the Premier League in 2008/09 after gaining promotion, it finished eighth. In the 2011/12 season, Azam finished in second place, its highest finish yet, allowing it to qualify for the 2013 CAF Confederation Cup. Established in 2007, Azam gained promotion to the Premier League in its first major goal and has since established itself as a strong competitor, improving to third and then second place in subsequent seasons.

History
Established in 2007, the first major target was to get the best players who will help the now
established Azam FC gain promotion to play in the Tanzanian Premier League. That dream was
realised as Azam FC joined the top flight football in 2008/09 season. Indeed, there was no
looking behind as Azam FC with star-studded players became a force to reckon in the domestic
league. Azam FC finished in eighth position in its first season on top flight football. But the team
made a tremendous improvement the following season finishing in the third position.
