Councilmember Gloria Confirmed as Budget Committee Chair
2015 Will Be His Fifth Consecutive Year Leading City Budget Decisions
SAN DIEGO (December 16, 2014) San Diego Councilmember Todd Gloria was today confirmed as
the Chair of the City Councils Budget and Government Efficiency Committee. He has served in the
position since 2011.
In my four years as Chair of the Budget Committee, the City Council has taken a far more
active role in the development of the Citys annual budget, ensuring it better reflects the true
priorities of San Diegans and the real needs of our neighborhoods, said Councilmember Gloria.
In the year ahead, the Budget and Government Efficiency Committee will ensure we maintain
fiscal discipline as our finances continue to improve, we will make our purchasing and
contracting processes more efficient, and take steps toward greater infrastructure
investment.
The Budget and Government Efficiency Committee's area of responsibility includes the annual
budget, financial reports, fees, performance measures, information technology, enterprise resource
management, purchasing and contracting, managed competition, revenue, management of c ity office
space, Equal Opportunity Contracting, San Diego City Employees' Retirement System, Tourism
Marketing District, personnel, civil service, and human resources issues. The Committees 2014 yearend report is attached.
Todays confirmation was part of the City Councils approval of appointments to committees and
outside agencies.
In 2015, Councilmember Gloria will serve as:

When I first joined the City Council in 2008, I wanted to make a positive difference for the City
I love. I will continue to lead on items related to budget, infrastructure, homelessness,
transportation, and public safety, said Councilmember Gloria. From police recruitment to the
Climate Action Plan to safer biking and pedestrian facilities, theres a lot to look forward to in
2015.
