5th Grade Wax Museum
Biography Project #3
Hello 5th Grade & Parents,
We are starting our third biography project! Students can choose
someone to work on from the attached Historical Figures Biography
Sheet. Once the student has chosen who they would like to work on,
they need to return the form as soon as possible because they will be
approved on a first come first serve basis. This means that students will
not be allowed to work on someone who has already been taken.
Before choosing a person, your child should go to the library or book store to make
sure they can find a book with plenty of information on the person that they would like to do
their project on. Books that fall under 200 pages can be combined with another book as long
as all reading pages add up to 200 pages. If two or more books are used, all books must be
read as well. Please fill out the attached form on the last page (bottom portion only), and
hand it back in by 3/2/15.
For your childs third biography project they are required to have a book from their
local library or bookstore. The book must be a biography of at least 200 pages or more,
and it must be someone from the attached sheet. The book is due in class no later than the
morning of 3/6/15. The book must be in school during the day, but can go home for reading
at night.
Students are required to compose a 1 page paper on their character as well as a six
question flip quiz for their board. Instructions on both paper and flip quiz are included within
this packet. We will work on a good portion of this project in class, but the poster board,
props, and possibly reading completion, writing, or typing final copies may need to take
place at home as well.

Wax Museum Guidelines & Due Dates
Character Display Board:
Students are required to create a three dimensional board (science fair type) for their
character that will be placed on a table by them in the museum. In class we discussed that when
we go to the museum, the exhibits that we see do not stand alone, there is some type of
information that is provided to the viewer. Students will be required to create a character display
board that includes information to their viewers. All information on display board must be
typed. The exact set up of their board should be as follows:
Please review the board thoroughly as many of the things required for it are selfexplanatory. Boards can and should include color.

ALL PAPERS & PICTURES PUT ON BOARD MUST BE ADHERED TO A
SEPARATE SHEET OF COLORED PAPER
(Cardstock or Construction paper will be fine), AND THEN BE PLACED ON BOARD.
Character Dress Guidelines:
Students are required to dress as a lifelike representation of the character in which he or
she has decided to work on. Your child is encouraged to bring in any props that they would like
to in order to make their presentation as real of an experience as possible. Students are
encouraged to become as creative as they would like.
1 Page Paper:
Students are required to write a one page paper on their character from what they have
read. The paper does not need a cover page since it will be posted to their board. Students will
want to include information about their characters childhood, adulthood, education, and
accomplishments/contributions. Your child is not limited to 1 page but can do more if they need
the space. Paper should be emailed to Ms. Cook on or before by April 29th.
6 Question Flip Quiz:
Students are required to create a 6 question flip quiz for their poster board. The questions will
come straight from the paper that they wrote. The quiz will be a fun and interactive piece for our
Wax Museum visitors. The flip quiz can be made out of index cards or any other resource.
Pictures of Student Dressed as Character:
Students are required to have 5 pictures (minimum) of themselves dressed as their character in
different locations. Since we are striving for excellence and are thinking outside of the box, some
of these pictures should include them in various locations around their neighborhood, and should
not all take place inside of the house or in the backyard.
Character Description:
Students are required to describe their character from their own point of view. From reading
about this person, they should be able to describe their character in their own words. This needs
to be 15-25 sentences.
