Rubric

This rubric evaluates a student's progress in learning about letters over 4 lessons. For each lesson, the student completes a survey and is observed during the lesson to assess their understanding. Lesson objectives include identifying pairs of lowercase and uppercase letters, writing lowercase letters, identifying capital letters and creating them with play dough, and writing lowercase and uppercase letters. Performance is rated on a scale from beginning to exemplary based on scores on surveys and observations of what letters the student can identify, write, and create during lessons.
