Ducati 1098 Throttle Mapping Guide

The document provides instructions for mapping the throttle response and fuel curve of a Ducati 1098 motorcycle. It outlines performing steady state and roll-on throttle tests from 2250 rpm through the gears. The fuel map should be adjusted so the 2000-5000 rpm range at 60-100% throttle reads around 13.5:1. All air fuel modes should be set to 13.2:1, or 12.8-13.0:1 for race fuel. The tachometer pickup is accessed without removing bodywork by going around the coil stick harness for the rear cylinder. The bike temperature should be kept between 180-195F for optimal mapping.

Ducati 1098

Mapping:
Perform 2% and 5% throttle in steady state mode.
Perform 10% through 100% throttle in roll on mode.
Start roll-ons at 2250 rpm.
Use 1st gear for 10
Use 2nd gear for 20%
Use 3rd gear for 40%
Use 4th gear for 60%, 80%, 100%
When done check 2000-5000rpm in Dynotrac at 60-100% throttle.
Put 25% load in the software and roll into this area. You may find
this area to be lean. Adjust map so this area is around 13.5:1.
Configuration:
Set all air fuel modes to 13.2:1. If using race fuel (with a high
oxygen content) it is possible to set it at 12.8-13.0:1.
Tachometer pickup:
Using a secondary pickup go around the complete coil stick
harness for the rear cylinder. This can be accessed WITHOUT
removing any bodywork on the left hand side..
Temperature:
Keep the temperature between 180-195F (82-91C).
Removing the bodywork aids in keeping the bike cooler.
Clean air injection:
N/A
Note:
We have found substantial differences in the fuel curve from the
front to the rear cylinder. Because of this, mapping each cylinder
individually will result in a much better running bike.
