AM2212 Mechanics of Composite Materials: 4 (L) - 0 (T) - 0 (P) - 4 (CR) Introduction: (4 HRS)

This course covers the mechanics of composite materials. It introduces classification and properties of composites, as well as fabrication technologies. It examines micromechanics relationships to determine strength and stiffness considering fiber volume fraction and material properties. It studies macro-mechanics including stress-strain relationships for orthotropic laminates. It also analyzes composite structures using classical lamination theory and failure theories. Characterization of fibers, matrices and testing of mechanical properties are also included.
