Saint Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland. He was born in Britain in 390 AD to a Roman family and was captured and enslaved in Ireland at age 16. During his six years of captivity, he turned to religion. He later returned to Ireland and dedicated his life to converting the Irish to Christianity. He established churches across Ireland and is credited with spreading Christianity in Ireland. Today, Saint Patrick's Day on March 17th is celebrated worldwide in honor of his legacy.
