Investment Banking society at
Fairfield University
Newsletter
October 22, 2015
The new organization at Fairfield university
Fall 2015 marks the first
semester of the Investment
Banking Society at Fairfield
University as an active
organization. The Investment
Banking Society has the
purpose of preparing business
students for a career in
investment banking through
rigorous career prep,
workshops, and in-person
meetings with industry
professionals. Already halfway
through the first semester, the
members of the Investment
Banking Society have
participated in a variety of
events and meetings that are
detailed in this newsletter. The
society was founded by Katie
Dempster in 2015 and is
supported by an exceedingly
talented board of student
leaders. We look forward to a
great second half of the
semester. With already 30
student members currently,
the society has grown very
quickly and continues to do so,
with new students joining each
week. The board of the
Investment Banking Society is
honored to release this
newsletter and share these
exciting updates about the
society with the Fairfield
University community. Go

STUDENT MEMBERS
MEET WITH FAIRFIELD
ALUMS IN NYC
This semester, students from the
society have had the opportunity
to meet with industry
professionals in New York. These
professionals have all been
Fairfield alumni. So far, student
society members have met with
alums at Morgan Stanley, UBS,
Bank of America Merrill Lynch,
and Centerbridge partners
through in-person meetings &
guest speaker events. These inperson meeting have been helpful
for students to learn about an
alums path from Fairfield to
their current position. Students
have met with alums across
multiple divisions, including sales
and trading, capital markets, and
private equity. Introducing
students to industry professionals
and the professional environment
has been instrumental in
motivating students to work hard
for a career in banking and
financial services. Through
meeting alumni in different
divisions, students are able early
on to discern which division of a
bank they potentially want to
work for.

WHATS PLANNED FOR
THE REMAINDER OF THE
SEMESTER
The board is actively working to
coordinate more in-person
meetings with alumni in New
York City in November and early
December as well as bring in
more guest speakers during our
Monday night meetings. The
board is also working on a
comprehensive M&A Pitch
Competition. The concept will
be debuted at the end of the
semester and will formally take
place in the spring semester. The
next society meetings will be
primarily financial modeling
workshops to teach students what
is essentially at the core of
banking. Each meeting we go
over current events in the
markets to keep students up-todate in addition to their own
reading of the Wall Street Journal
and MarketWatch.
