At that time, | was dispatched to 100 Black Men ‘School (8400 Malcolm Ave.) on the report of a burglary. Upon arrival, | mot with FP IE who told me the following. On Wednesday 21 August 2013 at 1800 hours, he locked both of his office doors and went home for the day. FUP stated that the entire school is secured by the custodial staff at 2200 hours. RIP returned to the school on the above listed date at 0715 hours. R/P unlocked the front doors to his office, Immediately upon entry, R/P observed broken glass scattered throughout the floor next to the window. R/P checked the office for missing items and observed his school issued Apple Mac Air missing from the top of his desk. The laptop Is Kept on his desk daily. RIP checked the window and opened the blinds for signs of entry. R/P observed the small ventilation window above the main window shattered. R/P stated that he checked the entire school for missing Items with negative results. Both of his office doors were locked. FUP immediately notified the police. | checked the small ventilation window (38" x 15") and observed a 4” hole near the locking mechanism. I checked the area behind the school, where the window is located, and found no items that may have possibly been used to shatter the window. {checked the exterior doors for scratches or pry marks indicative to forced entry. I was driving fully marked Oakland School Police Unit 3199 and wearing fall police uniform, At approx. 1000 hrs. was dispatched to 5750 College Ave (Claremont school) on the report of a burglary. I met with the RPQQSMEEERB who told me the following: RP stated today 4Feb13 at approx 0900 hrs he arrived to work and noticed his office door was open. His OUSD desktop computer monitor was not on his desk. Also missing fom his desk was his personal computer tablet (loss item#1) and personal camera (loss itemi#2). Both items were kept in an unlocked drawer in his desk. RP stated he locked his office on 31Jan13 at approx. 1800hrs, He returned to his office 4Feb13 at approx. 0900 hrs at which time he noticed his items missing. He was able to locate his desktop monitor | oss/recovered item #3) across the hallway in the copy room laying the floor. I could not locate any signs of forced entry to the RP’s office. I checked the copy room and noticed a door handle lying on the ground. The door handle came from a door which led to an adjacent office inside the copy room. The door handle appeared to have been removed by being struck with an unknown blunt object. I checked the adjacent office, but the suspect(s) had failed to gain entry to that particular office. R. Summary continued: I checked the exterior doors and windows to the school. I could not locate any signs of forced entry. However, I did locate a double set of doors in the west hallway leading to the exterior of the school which could easily be opened by simply pulling on them. | informed the school staff to place a work order into BAG to have the doors properly secured. First alarm advised me there was an alarm activation on 2Feb13 from 1941 hrs to 2026hrs. in the west hallway and main offices. OPD did not respond to the school. The school is on a do not respond list due to three or more false alarms in the past 30 days, Based on my interview with the RP, and information from the alarm company it appears the following occurred: During the above time frame an unknown suspect(s) entered the school through an unknown entry point. ‘The suspect(s) conducted a selective search removing loss items #1-3 from the RP office. Loss/tecovered item#3 was located inside the copy room across from the RP’s office. The suspect(s) attempted to gain access to a locked office adjacent to the copy room by using an unknown object, possibly a hammer to remove the door handle. The suspect(s) were unsuccessful in gaining access to this room. The suspect(s) exited the school through an undetermined exit with loss items # land 2. NARRATIVE: On 28 JUL 14 at 0800hrs, | was working as call sign 31L01. | was wearing full police uniform and driving marked patrol car #3189. | responded to 5750 College Ave (Claremont School) regarding a burglary that occurred. Upon arrival, | met with (RP) QR who is the school receptionist. RP told me the following: Today at 0800hrs, RP stated that she arrived at the school and found that the administrative offices had been ransacked. The administrative offices include: Principal's office, secretary's office, nurse’s office, and main attendance office. RP told me that several items were missing. (Refer to LOSS tems 1, 2, and 3) RP told me that she did not see any suspect(s) nor did she notice anything out of the ordinary before discovering the ransacking and stolen items. RP advised that the school was last secured py EE on Saturday, 26 JUL 14 at 4100hrs. RP stated that she spoke with several school staff members as they arrived and nobody found any signs of forced entry. RP told me that she thinks the suspect(s) may have had access through the double exterior doors on the North end of the main hallway that are able to forced open by pulling even when locked. RP stated that the school had advised OUSD Buildings and Grounds Dept, of the doors since March 2014, however, repairs have not been made.
