Prompt Tip Leads to Arrest of Suspected Catherine Store Burglar

GARFIELD COUNTY, Colo. – Shortly after seeing last Friday’s Post Independent article announcing
a Garfield County Crime Stoppers request for suspect identification, an anonymous caller stated he
knew of the man in the security camera clips. The tipster stated it was a Mr. Dylan Martin, 20, of
17605 Highway 82, Carbondale, CO 81623. The suspect’s residence is approximately a mile and a half
to the east of the alleged crime scene.

The Crime Stoppers Law Enforcement Coordinator passed along the tip to Garfield County Sheriff’s
detectives who were compiling other leads in the case. The name provided by the tipster corresponded
to other evidence, and Sheriff’s deputies were able to secure an arrest warrant this past Tuesday
afternoon, May 25th.

Dylan Martin was arrested without incident and booked into the Garfield County Jail at approximately
8:37 p.m. that night. He was able to post a $1,000 bond shortly thereafter and is scheduled to appear in
district court on June 9, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. for advisement of charges including felony second degree
burglary (force entry-nonresidence).
The alleged incident occurred early on the morning of Sunday, May 16, 2010, in which the man shown
in the surveillance video attempted to break through the front and back doors of Catherine Store,
15783 Highway 82, Carbondale, CO 81623. The damage to the doors is estimated at $200.00. The
video shows the suspect taking one step into the store and then running off to the west, possibly
deterred by an audible alarm.
