Netbridge Issue 5

We hope that by now you have all had the opportunity to familiarize yourselves with the
Cambridge ESOL official website [Link] which brims with information and
material to assist students taking exam courses, teachers imparting instruction in these
courses and candidates getting ready to sit the tests.
This Netbridge Issue will be devoted to the introduction of Candidate Support, a novel
feature on the official Cambridge ESOL website especially designed to provide scaffolding for
exam preparation.

Candidate Support – Exam Preparation

With a friendly and accessible layout, it facilitates the search for specific information and practice
materials now that exams are drawing near. It intends to offer support for the whole suite of tests:
General English | KET | PET | FCE | CAE | CPE
Professional Exams ILEC | ICFE | BEC Preliminary | BEC Vantage | BEC Higher
YLE Starters | Movers | Flyers

With Candidate Support you can

□ learn at which level each exam is set


□ familiarize yourself with the different papers in each exam (content, time and marks)
□ download information and sample papers with audio
□ read testimonials from other candidates who have taken the tests

Learn about the exams Recognition

Find out where you can study or work when you pass your exams. The Recognition database allows
you to find out more about where you can work or study when you pass your Cambridge ESOL exam.

Do not miss the electronic European Language Portfolio (eELP) which can be used to

• present your language skills


• record your certificates
• record your language learning experience outside the classroom

The eELP lets you record your skills, experience and qualifications for any language and at any level. It
uses the Common European Framework of Refence for languages (CEFR) from A1 to C1. This means that
if you go to another country to work or study, your new employer, school, college or university will easily
understand what level you have reached in English or the other languages you know.

you.
