Amazon Rainforest Food Sources

The Amazon River Basin spans multiple countries in South America and is characterized by hot and wet climate throughout the year. The Amazon River flows eastward from the Andes Mountains in western South America to the Atlantic Ocean. Local people grow crops like manioc in small cleared areas of the dense rainforest and also use aircraft to access different areas. The staple food is manioc, which grows underground like a potato. Pictures show plants that store water, terraced farming, and wildlife like frogs and birds in the Amazon rainforest.

reaching various places.

Manioc, also known as Cassava, that
grows under the ground like potato.
The Ganga - Brahmaputra

Fascinating Facts

 Bromeliads are special plants that

store water in their leaves. Animals
like frogs use these pockets of water
for laying their eggs.
 Terraces are built on steep slopes to
create flat surfaces on which crops
are grown. The slope is removed so
that the water does not run off
rapidly.
