Media Center Activity Report:
November 2010
This has been a busy month for the Jeff Davis High School Media Center. This is the time of the
year for research projects and the media center spent a large portion of the month hosting
classes working on their research projects. Students used both our print resources and our 18
computers to research multiple projects for the classes of multiple English teachers and two
classes for one of our social studies teachers.
During the second week of this month, the media center was used at several times to conduct
the state’s online drug survey for students.
In addition to research and drug surveys, several classes used the media center’s computers to
complete online test preparation assignments.
The reference section of the media center was inventoried.
112 new acquisitions were added to the media center’s collections. The bulk of these new
additions came from donations from faculty and the community, but we also received an order
from our membership with the Junior Library Guild.
The media center parapro began the task of inventorying all of the technology in the school.
The circulation in the media center was 203 checkouts
The MAD Center after school has become popular with students. 175 students attended at some
point during the month. Taking into account that the media center was closed for Thanksgiving
for one week this month, that shows a significant increase in MAD Center traffic after school.
The new book and coffee club was started this month. Sixteen students signed up and came to
meetings to discuss The Hunger Games, the first book in the Hunger Games series.
