Removing

– Remove noise insulation: → Chapter


– Remove front turn signals: → Electrical Equipment; Rep. Gr.94
– Remove release cable -6- from coupling and disconnect electrical harness connectors.
– Remove front bumper: → Chapter and remove side guide pieces from fender.
– Disconnect hoses for charge air cooler (only for corresponding engine versions).
– Drain engine coolant and disconnect coolant pipes:
1.8L (AEB, ATW), and 2.8L Engines: → Engine Mechanical, Fuel Injection and Ignition; Rep. Gr.19

2.0L Diesel Engine: → Engine Mechanical, Fuel Injection and Glow Plug; Rep. Gr.19
1.8L (AUG, AWM), and 4.0L Engines: → Engine Mechanical, Fuel Injection and Ignition; Rep. Gr.19
– Remove condenser from lock carrier: → Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning; Rep. Gr.87
– Remove hydraulic oil cooler from lock carrier: → Chapter
– ATF lines must be removed for vehicles with automatic transmission with ATF cooler → Automatic
Transmission - External Components; Rep. Gr.37

Caution
If lines for A/C system and/or for coolant are disconnected, engine must no longer be started.

Note
 Do not hang condenser and hydraulic oil cooler on hoses.
 Do not kink condenser and hydraulic line/hoses.

Installing
Installation is reverse of removal.
z Make sure that all plug- and hose connections are connected
when re-assembling.
– Check ATF level and top off: → Automatic Transmission -
External Components; Rep. Gr.37
– Align lock carrier at longitudinal and between fenders: → Rep.
Gr.00
– Adjust headlights:
Base Headlamps: → Electrical Equipment; Rep. Gr.94
HID Headlamps: → Electrical Equipment; Rep. Gr.94
