About WAVC
In 1962, some of the industrys original venture investors began meeting in San Franciscos Olympic Club to share ideasand deals. Informal at first, the groups popularity took hold and by 1969, it became the first official non-profit venture capital organization in the worldthe Western Association of Venture Capitalists. Some forty years later, WAVC is made up of over 130 venture firms and some 800 venture capitalists. In addition to its luncheon events, WAVC sponsors annual WAVC still offers West Coast venture capitalists the opportunity to come together to socialize, share insights, and discuss deals. Today, WAVCs primary focus is its distinguished speaker charity tennis and golf tournaments. It also actively aids local communities through its support of several nonprofits. series, which has hosted more than 500 of the countrys most celebrated business, financial, government, and academic leaderspeople like Eric Schmidt, Meg Whitman, John Chambers, Frank Quattrone, Peter Drucker, Tucker Carlson and Mitt Romney.
