The Military Situation
- The Free Syrian Army (FSA) killed not less than 6 persons affiliated to Al-Assad's detachments during clashes broke out near the Turkish borders.(7) - 9 persons affiliated to the security forces in addition to another civilian person were killed in Aleppo, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).(7) - Mustafa Al-Shaikh, chairman of the military council of the Free Syrian Army (FSA), asserted that the FSA would, this morning, abide by the implementation of ceasefire as per the plan of Kofi Annan, the envoy of the United Nations (UN) and the Arab League (AL) with the aim of proving a good intention for reaching a solution for the crisis that the Syrian people currently faces, as he put it.(1)(8) - Colonel Qasim Saad al-Din, spokesman for the joint leadership of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) inside Syria, asserted that the opposition would respect the date defined for ceasefire, saying" We would stop fighting on April 10th as per Kofi Annan's plan ."(9)(15) - The USA and France rejected the demands of AlAssad's regime for having written guarantees ensuring laying down the arms of the opposition fighters. Moreover, the USA and France described those demands as being procrastination demands.(1)(8) - The White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said" Bashar did not show any indication- till now- that his government is stick to the peace plan, that would, in turn, put an end to violence currently committed in Syria, before the end of the period defined by the United Nations (UN). (8) - Catherine Ashton, European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs, regarded adding more conditions on the part of the Syrian regime to Annan's task as unacceptable at - Bashar Al-Herak, member of the Secretariat-General with the Syrian National Council (SNC), asserted that there is an agreement between the SNC, the Free Syrian Army's military council and field battalions on implementing ceasefire as of April 10th morning.
