Please add these word cards to your Sight Word Box . Please practice these regularly.

What we are learning wIn Reading-Our final story is entitled Baboon. Our focus will be on the literary element of plot.. In Writing- We are working on having a topic sentence, three details, and a concluding sentence. The children are using a planning sheet to aid them. In Math-We are working on two-digit addition in preparation for 2nd Grade. In Social Studies-We are working on a patriotic songbook.

Help Needed! We need lots of family help and support for the end of the year activities. Keep the dates in mind that are listed in the Our Calendar section of the newsletter. The most help will be needed on Water Day, End of the Year Party, and Field Day. Just let me know how you are able to help or sign up on the classroom door. For Water Day- hoses, sprinklers, wading pools, a slip and slides, watermelon, ice pops, or bubbles. I am requesting that each child bring in 1 or 2 cans of shaving cream. For the End of the Year party-Breakfast food. A sign up sheet has gone home. If your child has a summer birthday, please send in a birthday treat instead. For Field Day-Bottled water, 2 coolers, and ice.

Our Calendar We have lots of fun activities planned for the culmination of the school year. *Monday, May 28-No School! Memorial Day! *Tuesday, May 29-Friday, June 1-Fun Week Tues., May29-Crazy Hair Day! Wed., May 30-Silly Sock Day! Thurs., May 31-Dress Your Best Day! This is a time to wear your fancy clothes. Fri., June 1-Water Day! We need lots of parent participation for this one. *Monday, June 4-Wednesday, June 6-Early Dismissal-1:00 p.m. *Monday, June 4-End of the year breakfast party and celebration of summer birthdays. Sign up to bring something in, or better yet, join us. *Tuesday, June 5-Field Day. *Wednesday, June 6-Last Day of School!
