Lecoq on teaching: I am nobody. I am a neutral point through which you must pass in order to better articulate your own theatrical voice. I am only there to place obstacles in your path, so that you can better find your way around them. Dont do what I do. Do what you do. I dont need my pupils to love me Lecoq on Neutrality and the Neutral mask: The first year is the demystification of ready made ideas. Self enlightenment and spiritual bliss has little attraction. The ego is superfluous. The neutral mask is a fulcrum point which doesnt exist and as the actor approaches it they become a white page, ready to be written on in the future dramas. Of course, there is no such thing as absolute neutrality, it is merely a temptation. Lecoq on Play & Mime: My method aims to promote the emergence of a theatre where the actor is playful. disponsibilit- state of discovery, openness, of freedom to recieve condition required for play complicit - result of successful play, collusion between performers and performers and audience in gleeful pleasure.. To mime is literally to embody and therefore to understand better... miming is a way of rediscovering a thing with renewed freshness. The action of miming becomes a form of knowledge.
