I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Ceigall India Limited for providing me
with the opportunity to undertake this internship at the Danapur-Bihta-Koilwar
Elevated Project. The exposure I received to the field of civil engineering has been
invaluable and will significantly
contribute to my academic and professional development.

I am deeply thankful to my on-site supervisor and the entire project team for their
constant guidance, support, and encouragement. Special thanks to the faculty and
internship coordinator at Government Engineering College, Jehanabad, for facilitating
this internship.

2. Abstract

This report summarizes the experience, learning outcomes, and key technical aspects
observed during a four-week internship at Ceigall India Limited. The internship
focused on the construction of the Danapur-Bihta-Koilwar Elevated Corridor, a
major infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity and reducing congestion.

This document includes detailed insights into site activities, engineering practices, use
of construction materials, IS code compliance, safety measures, and the integration
of theory with real-world civil engineering applications.
3. Introduction to the Company

Ceigall India Limited is a renowned infrastructure development company with


expertise in highways, bridges, elevated corridors, and other civil construction
projects. With a focus on quality, innovation, and timely delivery, the company has
established itself as a key player in India's rapidly expanding infrastructure sector.

Vision: To contribute to nation-building by delivering world-class infrastructure


projects.

Mission: Achieving excellence in execution, ensuring sustainability, and prioritizing


safety and stakeholder satisfaction.

4. Project Overview:
(Danapur-Bihta-Koilwar Elevated Project)

The Danapur-Bihta-Koilwar Elevated Corridor is a significant infrastructure


development project aimed at improving road connectivity between Patna and Bihta.
The corridor is designed to decongest existing roadways and provide a faster, safer
alternative for daily commuters and heavy vehicles.

Project Scope:

o Construction of elevated flyover structure.


o Multiple piers and deck segments.
o Use of prestressed concrete and segmental launching techniques.
Key Features:

o Length: Approximately 21 km.


o Design: Multi-span prestressed bridge.
o Materials Used: High-grade concrete, TMT bars, bearings, shuttering, and
launching girders.

Importance:

o Enhances regional connectivity.


o Reduces travel time.
o Supports economic and logistics development.
5. Objectives of the Internship

The primary objectives of this internship were:

o To gain practical exposure to the construction processes of an elevated corridor.

o To understand site management, scheduling, and quality control.

o To learn about material usage, handling, and testing.

o To observe the application of IS codes in real-life scenarios.

o To develop technical documentation and reporting skills.

o To engage in communication and teamwork with experienced engineers and


laborers.

o To connect academic knowledge with field-level practices in civil engineering.


6. Weekly Work Log Summary

Week 1: Orientation, site safety briefing, introduction to the project layout,


understanding construction drawings.

Week 2: Supervision of pier construction, reinforcement detailing, formwork setup, and


concreting procedures.

Week 3: Observation of girder launching operations, inspection of prestressing tendons,


site quality checks.

Week 4: Road deck slab works, utility duct placement, and finishing operations
documentation and reporting.
7. Technical Work Done

o Pier and pile cap casting using M35/M40 concrete.

o Rebar tying and reinforcement placement per IS 456:2000.

o Superstructure construction using segment launching techniques.

o Use of shuttering, scaffolding, and launching girders.

o Laboratory testing of concrete cubes and slump tests.

10. Challenges Faced & Suggestion

Challenges:

o Adapting to site environment and weather conditions.

Suggestions for Improvement:

o Better digital access to construction schedules and drawings.


11. Conclusion

This internship provided an invaluable opportunity to bridge the gap between academic
learning and field practice. It strengthened my understanding of civil engineering
concepts and developed my professional and interpersonal skills. The Danapur-Bihta-
Koilwar Elevated Corridor project offered exposure to high-level construction
practices and project management techniques.
