ABSTRACT
The title of this research is THE EFFECT OF TASK BASED
MATERIALS ON THE STUDENTS ENGLISH SPEAKING ABILITY AT 8th
GRADE OF MTs PP MODREN AL-JAUHAR DURI. This research is to
investigate the contribution of task based materials in improving students ability
in Engglish speaking. The research uses task based materials as one of the
teaching technique especially in teaching Engglish. Nowdays, the various
technique in teaching are very important to make students interest in teaching and
learning process.
Besed on the preliminary research, reseacher found that there ware some
of the students still unable in engglish speaking, for example they confuse if their
teacher ask them to tell about speaking topic given by teacher. Their inability is
caused by some factors such as lack vocabulary, dont have brove to speak in front
of class coused low motivation, and less comprehending of the topic and other
problems.
The subject this research is the second student in MTs PP Modren AlJauhar Duri, and the object is the used classroom Debate in improving students
ability in Engglish speaking and the population is all of second grade in MTs PP
Modren Al-Jauhar Duri there are 30 students. The main purpose of this research is
to obtain how to contribution of using classroom debate in the second grade
students of MTs PP Modren Al-Jauhar Duri. In this study the design of the
research is exprimental research. To get the data the writer use SPSS version 19.

And score of pre-test and post-test to compared. The result indicate that there is
not significant effect of using task base on the students ability in Speaking, where
in post-test improvement score ( 2255 ) and in pre-test ( 2050 ). Thus the use
Classroom Debate not have affect is better value.

the award of undergraduate degree at the Engglish Education Department of
Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam (STAI) Hubbulwathan Duri. The title of this is
The Effect Appliying Classroom Debate on the Students Speaking Ability at the
Second Grade Students of SMA S Hubbulwathan Duri.
The writer really realizes that there is still weakness on this thesis. Therefore,
