The Centre for International Trade and Technology (CITT)
Recognizing the role of innovation, research & development and technology for the growth and competitiveness of trade and industry in knowledge based economy, the Centre for International Trade and Technology (CITT) was set up in 2001 at IIFT with the active technical and financial support of Ministry of Science & Technology, Department for Scientific and Industrial Research, Government of India. The CITT primarily aims at promoting technology business through policy research, capacity building, dissemination of information and networking.
Through a unique combination of cutting edge knowledge, insight into the global development agenda and faculty expertise, the MDPs provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and acquisition of skills in the area of international business that help shape corporate strategies.
Management Development Programmes (MDPs), being the core strength of IIFT in the field of International Business, aim at developing the required skills and professional competency among the participants and equipping them with knowledge of international trade and business, helping them keep pace with the emerging challenges. The Institute offers a wide range of MDPs in various areas of International Business such as International Marketing, Trade Operations and Logistics, International Finance, WTO & related issues in India and abroad, besides CSR. IIFT has organized these programmes for a large number of Government departments/ ministries such as Ministry of External Affairs and Department of Science & Technology as well as corporate houses such as Tata Group, Mahindra Group, Aditya Birla Group, Indian Oil, ITC, Pepsico, ABN-AMRO, Cairn, Sony, UNDP, Bharat Electronics, Medtronic, BHEL, Ericsson, MMTC, STC, Power Grid, ITPO, ONGC, SAIL, GAIL and Coir Board.
Research
Research activities occupy a critical place at IIFT because of the strong institutional emphasis on a strong pervasive interface between research and training. The Institute has so far brought out over 650 research studies and surveys. In addition, it has developed substantial consulting capacity in analyzing international business situations and developing appropriate corporate strategies. Prominent institutions and international organisations that have consulted IIFT includes Harvard University, European Union Office, USAID, UNDP, ESCAP, Commonwealth Secretariat, FICCI, CII, FIEO and Central & State Governments of India
Overseas Programmes
Continuing with the initiative of building capacity across the African continent, consequent to the India Africa Forum Summit, 2008 a series of capacity building programmes on International Business were held in Uganda, Senegal, and Rwanda. The Institute has so far conducted about a dozen programmes in various African countries that include Ethiopia, Egypt, Botswana, Namibia, Angola and South Africa.

MBA (IB), the flagship programme of IIFT, is a two year, fully residential programme. The course has been designed with special emphasis on international perspectives of all the functional streams of management. This differentiates the MBA (IB) programme from the management programmes offered at other top business schools.
The programme aims at a holistic development of the students. Integrating economics with management principles through carefully designed courses makes the programme unique. Port visits, summer projects, live projects, a social awareness programme, symposia, cultural events, community service activities, sports and different club activities form an integral part of the curricula.
Admission Procedure
Through a rigorous admission procedure involving an intensive written exam, group discussion, essay writing and an interview, IIFT ensures that only the crme de la crme make it to the programme. The 1:300 student to applicant ratio stands testimony to the level of scrutiny that IIFT adopts in its admission procedure.

Course Structure
The pedagogy at IIFT is specifically designed to create a progressive learning environment - a blend of both theoretical concepts and practical nuances. An optimal mix of learning methods ensures a holistic personality development of the students. The curriculum encourages students to apply theoretical learning to real-life scenarios in the form of case studies, primary research and live projects.
The course structure at IIFT gives a strong grounding of international perspectives. The first year of the programme helps in building a strong foundation and equips students with the basics of Finance, Marketing, Trade, Strategy and Entrepreneurship. It also introduces the students to the concepts of HR, Operations and Economics. All research findings at IIFT are carefully incorporated in the curriculum. The second year requires the students to specialise in a domain by opting for a preferred combination of 8 electives in addition to the core courses offered. To major in any particular domain, a minimum of 4 electives are to be chosen. A minimum of 2 electives make a minor in the particular domain. The total number of credit hours for the course is 1260 hours. Location
Located in Qutab Institutional Area, overlooking the green ridge and the historical Qutab Minar, the IIFT Campus is considered to be one of the finest in the country. The campus is spread over 6.5 acres of land, houses two academic blocks and two residential blocks for students and visiting faculty. Be it the imposing structure of the Atrium, the mystic beauty of the architectural design called Top of the World, or the splendour of the campus in full bloom in winter, it never fails to impress the visitors.
Library
One of the largest of its kind in the developing world, with a repository of over 1 lakh volumes and 800 journals, the library comprises of a unique collection of publications and business journals from FAO, IMF, UNCTAD, World Bank and other international agencies. Students have access to databases such as CMIE, India Stat, World Trade Atlas, World Bank Indicators, WITS and EBSCO and other audio-visual aids on management. IIFT has set up the WTO Resource Centre in the Library to focus exclusively on WTO issues. This unique Centre enhances the utility of the IIFT Library even further.
Hostel
IIFT, Delhi comprises of three hostels which are well equipped to help students deal with the hectic course. The campus hostels have recreation rooms, study lounges and gymnasiums. Full time medical assistance is available.
Student Life
Keeping in line with the aim of all round development of managers, IIFT Delhi provides a plethora of activities initiated by students themselves. The slew of interesting group projects and assignments make sure that the IIFTians work together and develop team-spirit. But IIFT is not just about academics. Students also take part in various recreational activities and get togethers. Nonacademic clubs such as Quintessential and Koshish are very popular among students.

The campus itself is very picturesque, with artistically designed buildings and wellmaintained plush gardens. The facilities available on the campus include, fully air-conditioned lecture halls with modern audiovisual aids, conference halls for round-table conferences, an auditorium of 500 seating capacity, three computer centers, indoor games, sports ground, besides excellent residential facilities for the students.

BrandWagon, the Marketing Club of IIFT also publishes its Marketing Magazine under the name of MarkMantra containing interesting and innovative marketing articles written by students and industry practitioners. Both these magazines are published on the IIFT knowledge repository website maintained by the students and circulated among the top B-Schools of the country as also shared with various corporates.
Location
The IIFT Kolkata Campus was started in the year 2006 and is an extension of the Delhi campus for all academic activities. The highly qualified and experienced faculty teaches at both the campuses and the courses and credits are common among the campuses. IIFT also follows a common admission as well as placement process for both its campuses. The Kolkata Campus of IIFT is located in the lush green area of Salt Lake, the modern commercial hub of the City of Joy, overlooking the picturesque salt water lakes of the area.
The facilities at the campus include air conditioned lecture rooms, well equipped conference hall with facilities for video conferencing, a rich library with extensive reading / research material and fully equipped computer centres with latest software applications like SPSS, Clementine, Palisade Decision tools, e-Views and Oracle Developer which aid the students in their various assignments and projects. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled with 24x7 high-speed internet connectivity. Medical facilities are also available on campus round the clock. Construction of IIFT Kolkatas new campus is under way on a 10-acre plot allotted by the Govt. of West Bengal and it is expected to be a state-of-theart campus meeting international standards in the field of MBA education.
Library
The library at the Kolkata campus has subscriptions to a number of unique publications, business journals and magazines including those by IMF, UNCTAD, etc. and has access to comprehensive online databases that help students carry out extensive research. The databases include CMIE, India Stat, World Trade Atlas, WITS and EBSCO. A separate reading room is also available for students to study from their own material during their spare time.
Hostel
MBA (full-time) at the Kolkata campus is a residential program having excellent hostel facilities with an ambience conducive to learning. Individuals with a sense of responsibility to society are the catalysts for social enterprises and corporate changes.
Realizing this, IIFT has taken the initiative to sensitize its student and make them socially responsive corporate citizens. The Social Awareness Programme (SAP), which is part of the curriculum for the MBA (IB) Programme, brings students face to face with major issues that concern society. Under this initiative, students are affiliated to more than 30 partner NGOs where they learn how to transfer academic knowledge into real-world practice to bring about social change.
At IIFT, students have been working to improve the conditions of the underprivileged, adding momentum to the increasingly growing belief that business is interlinked with society. Student Clubs
IIFT believes in learning through group work. It inculcates the concept of a TEAM in every activity it endorses.
International Management Forum (IMF) is the official student body at IIFT. It coordinates and provides administrative support to various student bodies and activities. The five member body consists of the President, the General Secretary, the Media coordinator, the Cultural secretary and the Alumni coordinator.

CASHONOVA
The Finance and Investments Club
Cashonova is the Finance and Investments club at IIFT. The club acts as a platform for finance enthusiasts and conducts discussion and activities that go beyond classroom learning. The club is instrumental in reaching out to students and nurturing interest in finance among them through a wide variety of events. The club organizes a national finance symposium every year in Mumbai. The Equity Research Cell under the aegis of Cashonova aims to equip the students with nuances of valuation.
This is amply illustrated in the variety of student clubs at IIFT, each targeting a specific domain.
EOM CELL
The Energy, Operations and Manufacturing (EOM) Cell is the hub for energy and operations interest at IIFT. The cell provides a platform for the interaction of students, faculty, alumni, business leaders and researchers. Various initiatives (such as conclaves) are taken by the club to ensure the seamless transfer of knowledge related to these domains and to educate students about the challenges faced by these sectors.
E-CELL
The entrepreneurship cell strives to drive the entrepreneurial spirit among the IIFT community. It acts as a catalyst and an incubator of new ideas. It organizes workshops and sessions that motivate budding entrepreneurs to showcase their ideas and provides constructive feedback on them.

IIFT is Indias nodal institution of excellence in the field of International Business and Trade. It is one of the very few institutes that offer courses like International Trade Operations and International Trade Logistics, which deal with practical issues related to foreign trade. As a part of the fourth tri-semester, students visit a sea port to get a firsthand experience of the system. Flagship Events
At IIFT, education is not restricted to books as we believe that experience comes with practical application. The student body ensures students get ample opportunities to practice what they learn. HR Symposium (Kolkata)
IIFT appreciates and acknowledges the importance of human resource management. It hosts the annual symposium wherein it invites the best names in the HR space to educate students about the field and the current scenario, apart from dwelling on various theoretical concepts.
Quo Vadis
Quo-Vadis is the 3 day annual Management and Cultural Festival of IIFT which is organized during the third week of November at Delhi. Major attractions include flagship events such as Consigliere, Shodh, Tactica, Masuk Pasar and Ranniti. The clubs put their best foot forward and organise hugely popular competitions, which see participation from the top B-Schools in the country.

The Al Gore Sustainable Technology Venture Competition In January 2011, IIFT Delhi and The Foundation for a Sustainable Future, San Francisco, organized the 4th annual Al Gore Sustainable Technology Venture Competition for MBA, engineering and other graduate students in India, with a focus on bringing new sustainable technologies to market through entrepreneurship. Ten teams from premier B-Schools in India, including two from IIFT, presented their ideas in front of an eminent panel of judges.
