Marillion are one of the UK music scenes best kept secrets; purveyors of soulful, powerful, and often deeply-moving music, with a long-standing reputation for blistering live shows which have earned them an impressive and faithful global fanbase. One of the most important collections of string music from the period, it ranges from serious works in the tombeau and funerary genres, such as Schmelzers Lamento on the death of the Emperor Ferdinand III, through non-programmatic sonatas and suites, to music clearly designed with earthier sentiments in mind, such as C.H.
