Pitocin

Oxytocin is a hormone classified as an oxytocic that stimulates uterine contractions and lactation. It is indicated for labor induction, facilitating labor, threatened abortion, postpartum bleeding control, and promoting lactation. Risks include water intoxication, hypotension, and fetal complications. Fetal maturity and pelvic adequacy should be assessed before use and contractions and vital signs must be monitored closely during use. Vitamin K is a fat-soluble vitamin necessary for blood clotting factor synthesis. It is used to prevent and treat hypoprothrombinemia. Risks include allergic reactions. Prothrombin time must be monitored before and during use to assess the need
