**** Fabricated frame brackets may use a different alignment bushing. Part number shown is for cast hanger. Provide kit # from serial tag or frame bracket
part number from OEM build (VIN) to SAF-HOLLAND service for applicable part number.

To select correct axle clamp castings, locate
your make and style of axle on chart below. To
conrm bowl offset, measure from brake ange
to reference line shown on drawing. Then
subtract the smaller dimension and divide by 2.
NOTICE: The upper adapter clamp includes all
sub-assembly parts: shims, wear pads, etc.
The example shown is for reference only; your
axle may differ.

Equalizing Beam Identification
The Air-Beam suspension adjusts to the pinion angle of the axle with a combination of bushing types, bushing installation
angles, and shims. Most drive axles are tilted at an angle so they will mate with the angle of the incoming drive line. This angle
will vary by vehicle manufacturer and model, and in a tandem installation the rear drive axle will usually have a higher pinion
angle that the front drive axle.
IMPORTANT: When ordering axle connection bushings, and/or shims, specify the correct beam type so that it will t and
maintain the correct pinion angle. It is critical that you can use the following step-by-step procedure when ordering and
installing a beam assembly. Failure to do so can result in axle, drive line, frame, and suspension damage.
1) Determine the correct beam type (1 or 2) using the graphics below. If the rear bushing in your beam is straight you
have a Type 1 beam, and if the bushing is offset you have a Type 2 beam. The type is also located on the serial number
plate attached to the right hand (curb side) beam. If the plate cannot be read, contact your vehicle manufacturer for
the correct pinion angle of your axle.
2) Using the beam type and/or pinion angle, reference the Equalizing Beam chart below to determine correct beam part
number.
3) Before disassembling the beam, document the number and the location of the axle shims for proper replacement.
